The Theory of Plate Tectonics
To start off, plate tectonics is a theory that explains things like movement, volcanism, continental drift, destruction, and things that interact with the lithospheric plates. The theory of plate tectonics could be one of the most important theories in geology. The theory says that the lithosphere, which is broken into 7 large pieces called plates. The plates are moving in different directions and doing that very slowly. They move about 2 to 12 cm a year. They might crash, pull apart, or slide together. for more information, go on to the next following pages.
